Founding Principles

The objectives of the School since it was set up in 1937 are:

"to promote the study of the natural laws governing relations in human society, and the study of the laws, customs and practices by which communities are governed."

What do you understand by this? Does it provide guidance for you in your work in the School (group, duties, etc)? Does it accurately represent your own motivations for membership?

It would seem from Mr.Lambie's letter that understanding the laws governing human society is a secondary aim to liberation (or the realisation of man's full potential)...?

Agreed. It needs to change. Mr Lambie's letter indicates the priority.

I have to agree with both of you. The sentence quoted suggests economics, law and government only. NOT philosophy, contemplative practices, theology, psychology, spiritual seeking.

I don't know the historical reasons for this never having been revised, but perhaps it's time.
